Our Flooring Process
The flooring in each home is unique and will require different prep work and custom coatings. Garage Floor Masters of Alpharetta customizes our work to fit the specific needs of your project. Giving several different color and texture options will give you a range of flexible and functional floor options. Your garage should not only look stylish and clean but should be functional.
Garage flooring takes a beating and experiences lots of wear and tear over the years. Adding a layer of protection can help to protect the original quality of your floors and improve the look of your home.
Garage Floor Masters of Alpharetta uses a step-by-step process to ensure that your project is done in a short amount of time. We specialize in completing garage floor coatings in just one day. This is great for our customers because it doesn’t limit you from taking part in daily activities. Our process is designed to meet your standards and specific needs.
Preparation & Grinding
The perfect floor coating starts with the right prep work. We start with clearing the area and cleaning the concrete surface. Removing dust and other debris is important to allow the coating to stick properly. We use shot-blast or diamond grinding and have a vacuum attached at all times to keep the dust particles from spreading. This step helps the coating to last longer and look better.
Concrete Restoration
If your concrete is full of cracks and pits the final product does not live up to its potential. We include floor restoration in the coating process so that the epoxy and other material does not work extra hard to fill in those spaces. Restoring garage floors starts with adding filler to cracks and pits that help to make the surface smooth. Applying a floor coating to a smooth surface ensures that it will not start to lift or crack.
Base Coat & Chip
Once the floor is prepped, we mix a Polyurea base coat and apply that. Once this is complete we broadcast the chip and flakes by hand which adds texture and slip resistance to your floor. The color and variation of coatings give you some freedom to express your personality. You should be completely satisfied with the functionality and look of your coating.
Setup Time
This step can vary from project to project. Typically the coating will be set up within 1-2 hours after the base application. This can change depending on the size of your garage, the weather, and the type of floor coating.
Scraping Floor
Once the floor coating is completely set up and dry, we come back through and clean up our work. Vacuuming and scraping the surface to remove any loose product and extra dust helps us look for imperfections and makes the surface ultra smooth.
Polyaspartic Clear Coat Top Coat
We finish off every project with a polyaspartic clear coat, which helps to protect the floor from UV light and other chemicals.
