-
How much do your polyaspartic (Epoxy) coatings cost?
Polyaspartic epoxy coatings are a popular choice for their sleek, polished appearance and exceptional durability. They’re particularly ideal for garages due to their low maintenance and long-lasting finish. The cost of these coatings depends on two main factors: the total square footage of the area and the specific type of surface being treated. For an accurate estimate, contact us to discuss your project details!
-
What is the life expectancy of (Epoxy) polyaspartic coatings?
Polyaspartic coatings are renowned for their exceptional durability and long-lasting protection. When professionally applied and properly maintained, these coatings can last as long as the natural lifespan of your flooring, providing years of dependable performance and a sleek, polished look.
-
Do I have to reseal my coating?
Garage floor coatings are designed to be long-lasting, providing durability and protection for years. With proper maintenance and care, your coating can last for the entire lifespan of your garage floor. However, neglect or exposure to harsh conditions may require reapplication to maintain its appearance and performance. Regular cleaning and avoiding excessive wear will help extend the life of your coating.
-
Are you able to fix areas of pooling or dripping before installation?
If your concrete slab has pooling or dripping issues, the solution depends on the severity of the problem. If the slab has sunk significantly, it’s best to have it raised before applying a coating. Since we don’t specialize in concrete lifting, we recommend contacting a professional concrete lifting or leveling company to address the issue prior to installation. Once the slab is leveled and ready, we can proceed with applying the coating to ensure a flawless finish.
-
Can you coat my driveway with the polyaspartic (Epoxy) coating?
While coating your garage floor with polyaspartic or epoxy creates a stunning and durable finish, applying it to a driveway is not recommended—especially if the driveway is sloped. Driveway surfaces are exposed to harsh outdoor elements, heavy traffic, and potential moisture issues, which can affect the coating’s longevity and performance. We recommend exploring other options specifically designed for outdoor applications.
-
Do I need to be home during the installation of my garage floor?
Not at all! Our team values your time and understands that life can get busy. As long as we have access to your garage, you don’t need to be home during the installation. We’ll handle everything with professionalism and care, ensuring your new floor looks perfect when you return!
-
How often do I need to clean my new epoxy coated floor?
Regular cleaning is essential to maintain the longevity and appearance of your epoxy-coated floor. Dirt and debris can act like sandpaper, causing abrasions and potentially damaging the coating when driven over. While there’s no set schedule for cleaning, consistent upkeep will protect your floor and extend its lifespan. Prioritize sweeping or vacuuming to remove debris and follow up with a mild cleaning solution as needed to keep the surface looking its best.
-
What is the best way to clean my polyaspartic coated floor?
Keeping your polyaspartic-coated floor clean is simple and hassle-free. For regular maintenance, use a squeegee along with a mixture of mild soap and water to wipe down the surface. This method effectively removes dirt and grime, keeping your floor looking fresh and pristine.
-
Is the epoxy garage coating process dusty?
At Garage Floor Masters, we take pride in keeping the process as clean and dust-free as possible. Our team uses advanced techniques and equipment to minimize dust throughout the project. We understand that the last thing you want is to spend hours cleaning up after installation, so we make it a priority to maintain a tidy workspace and clean as we go. Our goal is to leave your garage looking flawless, with minimal disruption to your home.
-
Is it normal to have bubbles in Epoxy floors the day after installation?
Yes, it’s perfectly normal for a few air bubbles to appear in epoxy floors the day after installation. These bubbles can sometimes pop as you walk on the coating. This usually occurs due to fluctuations in temperature, which can cause trapped air to expand and escape from the underlying surface. Rest assured, this is a common occurrence and can be resolved with minor touch-ups if needed.
-
Can my epoxy garage be applied when it’s cold out?
Yes, epoxy garage floors can be applied even in cold weather! Specialized formulations, such as summer and winter blends, are available to accommodate different temperatures. The key difference is that the summer blend cures faster in warmer conditions, while the winter blend is designed to dry and cure more efficiently in colder temperatures.
-
Will Polyaspartic coatings discolor over time due to constant sun exposure?
Polyaspartic coatings are designed with UV protection, making them resistant to discoloration caused by sun exposure. Even in direct sunlight, these coatings maintain their color and integrity, so you won’t need to worry about fading or yellowing over time.
-
Can wood steps be coated with a Polyaspartic as well?
Yes, wood steps can absolutely be coated with a polyaspartic coating! While the coating adheres well to wood, it’s important to note that no warranty is offered for this application. However, using a polyaspartic coating will provide significantly greater durability and longevity compared to painting your steps.
-
Do the concrete expansion joints get filled during the installation?
Not necessarily. We typically advise against filling concrete expansion joints with floor coating, as they are specifically designed to control cracking. These joints allow the concrete to expand and contract naturally, directing any cracks into the joints rather than the main surface of the floor. If you fill the joints with a solid material, it can create pressure that forces cracks to develop elsewhere in the floor. For long-term durability and functionality, it’s best to leave expansion joints unfilled or use a flexible material that maintains their purpose.
-
Do you train and certify your installers?
Absolutely! All of our installers undergo comprehensive training and certification. They work closely with the owner to ensure every detail meets your exact specifications, guaranteeing top-notch quality and customer satisfaction.
-
Do certain colors cost more?
We provide a wide selection of color options to ensure you can choose the one that best complements your home and style. All the Polyaspartic coating colors featured on our site are available at the same price. However, if you’re looking for a custom color that isn’t part of our standard offerings, additional charges may apply.
-
Can expansion joints be filled after install?
Yes, they can! We recommend using Sika Self-Leveling Polyurethane, which is available at home improvement stores like Lowe’s or Home Depot. This product comes in tan or gray and can be easily applied with a caulk gun for a smooth, professional finish.
-
Is an acid wash or floor grinding best for a floor coating?
Grinding the floor with diamond tools is the superior method for preparing a surface for floor coating. This technique creates an optimal adhesion surface by mechanically removing any curing compounds, sealants, or stains that could compromise the bond. Unlike acid washing, which may leave residues and doesn’t fully address stubborn surface imperfections, diamond grinding ensures a clean, even surface for long-lasting coating durability.
-
What happens if I drop something and it chips the durable floor?
Our epoxy floors are incredibly durable, making it unlikely that dropping an object will cause damage. However, if the item is exceptionally heavy, dense, or has a sharp edge, minor chipping could occur. In the rare event this happens, don’t worry! We can efficiently repair minor damage without the need to redo the entire surface, keeping your floor looking as good as new.
-
Do you offer a warranty?
Absolutely! We provide a lifetime warranty that’s directly backed by us. Unlike other companies that rely on manufacturer warranties, we handle everything in-house, ensuring a smoother and hassle-free claims process for you.
-
Are my floors scratch resistant?
Polyaspartic floors are highly scratch-resistant, making them an excellent choice for durability. While no flooring is completely scratch-proof, polyaspartic coatings are exceptionally resilient and far outperform epoxy in resisting scratches. If you’re looking for a long-lasting, tough surface, polyaspartic is the superior option.
-
Can you coat over the felt bad between the floor and wall?
No, the felt pad between the floor and wall cannot be directly coated because the soft material prevents the coating from adhering properly. However, this issue can be resolved by applying caulking over the felt pad first. Once the caulking has been applied and properly cured, the coating can then be applied seamlessly. This extra step ensures durability and a clean, professional finish.
-
If my concrete cracks will my coating crack?
When concrete shifts and cracks over time, the expansion joints are designed to absorb much of the movement, minimizing the impact on the surrounding surface. To provide the best protection, we recommend applying the coating both inside and outside the expansion joints. This approach helps to maintain the durability and appearance of the coating even as the concrete settles or shifts.
-
Will my new floor be slip resistant?
Yes, your new floor will offer excellent slip resistance! The textured surface of the polyaspartic coating, enhanced by the vinyl paint flakes, provides a secure grip, making it a safer option for your home.
-

However, for larger projects or in the case of unexpected challenges, it may take a bit longer to ensure the highest quality results.
